There is talk of screens without Bezels or "edge to edge" screens coming out shortly.

First thought I have is an increased risk of damage. I think that small "buffer zone" around the edge of phones is important to maintain the rigidity of the phone, and thus the screens integrity.

An edge to edge screen puts it right there so to say, where the impact of a dropped phone is now putting more stress on the screen as opposed to the body of the phone.

Screen real estate is great, but is this method ideal?

Any thoughts you may have would be appreciated.

Not a good idea imo. Phone bezels provide some reinforcement to the glass and definitely can help in a fall. Bezel-less would certainly look nice, but I think it may end up hurting in the long run, possible a slight bump may cause it to crack.

I'm sure a number of iPhone owners would be happy to weigh in on how that works out in the event of a drop :p
