Its great, because now sms numbers are like throwaway email addresses. If you get too much sms junk/spam, you can just get another sms number.
Unless you use the Carrier's sms, which uses your real phone number... then you're stuck with it.

Go SMS all the way! Used handcent before but switched to gosms because handcent seemed too slow. Go SMS is quick and does everything I want and more.

I have used both handcent and go sms. Go is the clear winner in my book. Imo, the votes for handcent don't mean much if that's the only one app you've used
