what i would like is something that is quick, stable, wont overheat every so often and supports wireless tether.

Cyanogen mod RC6 or 5 would work the best.

You should check out Sapphire but I'd lie if I told you it operated cooler than any rom here. But by far its the best its really one of the best I seen in a while. Has some slight problems so you should be careful installing it. IF you do it right you have a fast, stable rom with lots of theme options.

There are several very good roms available. Go to the forum tab and scroll to the roms section. Each rom will run and preform differently. Therefore, I suggest trying three or four. Run one for five days and make notes on what you liked and what preformed well and what you did not like. Then flash a different rom and make notes. After you've tried several read your notes and they will tell you what rom to keep.

Rom selection is largely based on personal preference.
I for one have found jrummy's new Lithium Mod to be the best I've used (and I've used a lot) thus far.

I agree. Runs great, lots of themes and a whole lot of built-in options.

I am so tempted to run this due to the fact that I love Jrummy's rom but when Kangerade 6.0.9 came out it seemed that he went sloppy. NO offence to Jrummy I love the work he has done but for me it did not work as well as Cyanogen. I however do think that Lithium looks promising. Now if only DE was ported for it :p
