I dont want to renew w/verizon and I dont want to spend $300+ on a phone I currently run a DX what is a good option? Maybe a older model nothing "this gen" but one back I could get new for cheaper? If so what are some suggestions?

So what is your question? You worded it a little redundant.

I have a Droid X also, and I love it.
Large screen, easy access to apps his way, has all the features you need and still able to pocket it.
The second best choice would be my older and still great Droid 2 or the global version, both are solid performers and take a beating no iPhone can, plus it does have a physical keyboard if you prefer.
    Smaller screen, running 2.3.4 ICS.
As mentioned, Swappa is the place to go, or you can go to allthatcellular out of N.Y ( I bought both of my Droid Xs through them).
I am selling a Droid 2 on Swappa though, and since it is the site DF uses, I will stay with them.
You can view this phone there under MSA490.
