    I'd like a new keyboard.

People said Ultra Keyboard was the best but I don't like it because the Speech-To-Text sucks. I use that alot when I'm driving.

I have another one (can't remember the name) but the suggestion bar is placed on the top set of keys so I'm always hitting "Add Word" or hitting a word in the suggestion bar I don't want

I swear I just saw this thread lol. I use ultra keyboard but if you want something with speech try vlingo. you can open apps, call someone, reply or start a sms, anything all by voice. for example, if you want to call Adam, say "call Adam" then it will open a message to adam, touch in the typing field and start speaking your message. it will also read it back to you when you get a text. its got a good widget too. not an onscreen keyboard mind you, but great for driving. its a paid app. if u need it, pm me.

Thanks, I tried like 5 different keyboard and chose Smart Keyboard Pro. Great voice recognition, and lots of space between the keys in portrait.

not to mention, there is tons of leaked crap and links to paid apps on this site so I don't know what the big deal is.

the HTC_IME or whatever (it's the HTC Hero's keyboard) is sweet. Can't download from market I don't think, but it's free.

SwiftKey is by far the best. It anticipates what word you're typing and then the next word as well. It's so much better than anything out there I don't think I'd ever change.

You can find it on the internets...

That's what I was using, and the word prediction bar was covering the top half of the top row of letters, so if I went to you "y" or "u", I would always hit that damn bar

The HTC IME keyboard is easily the best out there IMO. Here is the dev's site that allows you to customize the skin and directly download it for your phone.

Have any of you guys/gals tried smart keyboard pro? I like it a lot better than Better Keyboard. You can pick several skins one being the iphone skin which I really like...just wondering because I'm not afraid to try some others.Gotta go to bed now though .

That's the one I ended up choosing. I love it. I tried like 6 different keyboards and I found this one to be the best

The iPhone skin is the best because all the letters are nice and spaced out.

When I enabled the HTC IME keyboard in the settings menu, my phone warned that it could steal passwords, credit card #s etc.. Just like a key logger. Any reason to worry? Is this a pretty standard warning for all keyboard apps from Android?

No worries. It will say that with any keyboard that you download and install.

I became hesitant when I read that too. I don't think there should be a huge concern for it but do stay cautious I suppose.

No, in fact, it's not "perfectly legal" unless you remove it from your phone.
