I've finally discovered the joys of a rooted Android phone - albeit they are small joys: I have a Droid 2 Global. I purchased the phone without realizing Motorola has locked the phone down to the point the developers have to fight with the software to get things working (CM7, anyone?) and who knows when the heck Gingerbread is coming out..

So, while I'm currently running the Hexen ROM and am pretty satisfied with my root and tweaks, I'm already looking forward to another phone. Any suggestions on Samsung.. HTC.. Nexus for the next go-round?

Buy a droid 1 for cheap and play around with roms and what not. You can get them for cheap now and its still the most open phone on verizons network in my opinion.

I say Droid 1 also... I am looking for one myself.

But for your D2G, I definitely recommend CM7. Its amazing.

I've been playing with CM 7 since RevNumbers and 13th Angel started working on it. But, the problems with Bluetooth and spotty wireless/3G connectivity still haven't been resolved.. and now that they're submitting the CM7 for official consideration to move out of beta, it may be a while before those two issues are fixed. Unfortunately, deal breakers for me right now...

The OG is the most customizable device for now... if you are looking for something new i would go for HTC devices as they are talking about having an unlock feature for their bootloader which will allow customization.

+1! I ran practically every ROM available for my D1 and became a serial flasher! My Thunderbolt and its AMAZING developer support are more than enough to keep me sane :)

I would have to say the D1 as well. That was my first Android phone and there is so much out there as far as roms and kernals are concerned. I still have my OG that I use as my "music device"

I too loved my OG Droid, but when it bit the dust I picked up a used Inc which I'm now ready to replace. I am due for an update next week and I don't know which one to get. I had originally planned to wait and see when VZW might get the SGS2, but my 3g radio on my Inc has stopped working so I can't put off an upgrade.
I don't live near an LTE area and my small town will not likely see it any time soon. So I'm not sure which phone to go with. The Inc 2, the TB, or the Charge.
    I'm so confused. haha
    Please help me decide!

According to me Samsung Galaxy S II is one of the best Android phone available in the market which is having various enticing features and functionality. It is having 1.5 GHz dual core processor, high focus camera and high capacity internal memory and RAM. So, you an buy this amazing smartphone. Before purchasing you can read Android reviews available online from where you can get detailed informations.

It's not available yet though and no one knows when it will be. I need a new phone now. I'm leaning toward the Charge now I think.

I wish I could have held out for it though.

Instead of going for those popular phones, you should try the sony ericsson xperia play. I'm not gunna lie, its very limited in root, but it's fast for only 1 core and has the best gaming experience to me. its known as the playstation phone, and its only 1 penny at amazon!

Other than the OG Droid, what phone is "root friendly"?

The OG Droid wasn't all that friendly to me when I couldn't get RSDLite to recognize my phone. lol It was a bit scurry since that was the very first phone I'd ever rooted.

If you can get the Droid x go for it its got incredible storage excillent speed decent battery life with the right rom and its easily rooted on froyo with z4root or ginger break not sure about gingerbread plus the roms mananger and koush bootstrap make it easy to flash roms and almost impossible to brick but easily fixed if done I bricked mine twice first time out of stupidity and the 2nd in my sleep lol
