Not sure what you mean. Do you mean which version of Android is the "best"?

If so, with each upgrade, Android gets better, so my answer would be; the latest one.

My favorite was froyo. It was much simpler to acclimate to, had almost 0 Google bloatware built in and just plain worked . All the Google apps built in on to today's version were available on the Market (Play Store) as add ons that we could choose which we wanted . Even gmail was an add on with my Inc.
As hardware has progressed Android has gotten a lot more bug free and smoother but Gingerbread was a mess, Eclair was a mess, Jelly Bean was a mess, all due to Android fragmentation which didn't seem to hinder froyo as much when carriers and manufacturers added their parts. Manufacturers and carriers seem to have reached a happy medium with their additions that don't break features (or turn the phone into a brick like Verizon did to the Inc just before abandoning it) with each new update since Jelly Bean.

I'm liking Kitkat. Mostly because I haven't experienced Lollipop yet.

I personally liked ICS the most because of its significant upgrades, functionally and aesthetically, over the previous versions of Android. Considering it was a major overhaul of Android too was a welcomed change. From what I remember too, many considered Android to feel a bit "clunky" and I think ICS changed that perception, I know it did for me.

I picked lollipop only because the OP didn't ask about versions before Gingerbread.

(Skim this part if you've read bout my android history before)
I honestly am most emotionally tied to Eclair or whatever the OG droid shipped with at the time (I forget now, but I wanna say Eclair was the update to 2.1 and Donut must be what it shipped with). Mostly because I had the G1, the first android phone and had to give it up when I moved up here. At the time, Alltel didn't have any real smartphones that I was interested in, so I went with a psuedo smartphone with touch screen made by LG.

It wasn't a very good experience and it wasn't until I went to vzw after they bought Alltel out to put my cousins on my plan and we were looking for phones for them. I recognized android right away on the droid and ended up paying full price to get myself one as well because of it.

That said, I think Lollipop is a sleeker animal and I like where they've taken the OS so far.

Personally I've been the happiest with KitKat. Lollipop doesn't interest me ATM.

All so sugary, they make my teeth ache just reading the names...

    I've only used three.
Ice Cream Sammich was on my first tablet, I barely got a bite of it when it flopped to the Jelly Belly. Okay, so I did some learning there & all was good...dig it - still have it on my Asus Transformer. Wasn't till I picked up my new phone (month or so ago) that I got into Kit Kat. Nice! No complaints, and no rush for the lollypop either. KK is new...to me at least. I guess my favourite so far.
