Battery suddenly hot

my battery was getting low, so I plugged into my USB port on my computer. I came back to the phone twenty or thirty minutes later and the phone was burning up. Very hot. Battery was at 1% and it was at 28% when I plugged out in.

Rebooted and now charging dinner on USB and no longer hot.

Any ideas?
