I love the PE ROM, runs excellent but in the last three days I noticed my battery is losing power pretty quickly. Once it gets to 50% it immediately descends to 20% of battery left in a matter of minutes. Is their a patch for this? Anyone experiencing this problem?

Having the same problem. I went almost a full two days after installing PE4.2 and now I'm lucky to get a few hours. Sucks because the rom is so smooth :(

    Also, before it gets posted...

Already tried letting the battery die/resetting battery stats.

Try reflashing the rom without a wipe.

Well it's a relief that I am not the only one experiencing this. I LOVE the ROM but wish the battery lasted longer. Losing 30-40% battery life in a day is terrible.

have you tried changing kernels? i recently switched to pe 4.2 and while it is superior in nearly every way to my previous rom, i noticed that i wasn't getting quite as much battery life as i used to. i switched the kernel to the one i was using previously (p3droid 125-1100 low voltage) and now am getting the best battery life i've ever gotten. i'd suggest tinkering around with the kernel until you find the one that works best with your particular phone. one other thing to mess with would be the governor settings under performance in elite options, i personally use setcpu for my overclocking so maybe someone else could point you in the right direction on which of the governors is best for battery life.

+1 here, I use slayer ulta low voltage 1100(ovrclk) and 400(undrclk) been using this rom since released. No battery problems at all, but I know my Droid loves this kernal and thankfully it plays nice with this rom. With this paired up with PE 4.2 I have a awesome phone.

Do I need to wipe cache when downloading one of the slayer kernels?

Lots of trying different kernals. Lot of researching too. Finding the right kernal and knowing what your phone likes and how it behaves. How much to overclock/underclock. When my phone sleeps I have it set low like at 800/400 cuz it isn't being used so there is no reason to set it high, procsessor don't run so hard and I set it to powersave. Things like that help a lot. Setcpu and current gov at interactive little tweaks here and there. Whatch your battery at differant times to see what is eating up your battery, wifi, gps and some data use it a lot. Stay away from task killers they drain it your prob on froyo its desighned to kill apps already that you closed out of. Hope my tips help. Keep me posted on how it does for you.

I came from MIUI and I just let the phone monitor the CPU. I just flashed this rom and I notice there are CPU max/min and governor settings. I do have SetCPU from a while ago, but from your experience with this rom, is it better to use SetCPU or is the built in governor okay? I guess the different governor types confuse me. I should probably just try it since all droids have different effects, but just from other users posts and maybe if there is a certain consensus on it.

I would highly recommend using SetCPU. The inclusion of profiles not only provide better power management (depending on how you set them) but can provide an extremely valuable safety net when it comes to things like temperature.

For a better understanding of all things related to overclocking, SetCPU, governors and tweaking your phone, read this thread:

Setup is better cuz of the profiles that you set up.

Edit: spelling error sorry guys spell check is a blessing and a curse should be setcpu not setup. Lol

I stopped using Setcpu when the rom devs started putting cpu controls in the roms. I have not missed it. The phone will do just fine without it and you'll get better battery life. I haven't used it in 4-5(?) months. It's a fun app to play around and feel like you're doing some good, but if the rom is setup to switch governors and set min and max, let it do it. YMMV!!

    Good luck.:)

Bullswife, how about a link to that kernel, I'd love to give it a try, the 50% to 20% drop is my only complaint with this ROM. The link I found was from Aug, and I thought there might be something newer.

you are unhappy with a 30% battery loss in a full day with your smart phone with normal use? geez.. i'd love to have your unhappiness and enjoy that much battery life out of my phone. i have to charge my phone after about 8-10 hours of use sometimes.
