Is it really bad running down your battery before you recharge it? I've always heard that's the best for your battery to charge it full and then use it all up. Not that I actually do that.. lol.

Also, I remember when I first got my Droid 2 and the battery life sucked but after a few charges it got better.

Yes, it's true...Lithium Ion batteries like the ones in the D2 don't like being run down (say to 5%/10%) repeatedly...much happier (and longer battery life over the long term) if you stop near 30% or so.

IMO, the extended battery is a better investment than a second battery.

I agree w/want a droid.
I've had my extended battery for 2 weeks.
Used it out of the box until fully discharged then fully charged it overnight.
Since, with moderate to heavy daily use it has never gone below 30%. I do plug it into car charger for the 30 minute drive home while I'm talking the entire time to my managers.
Then at night, into the media docking station for a full charge.
Have never used the backup battery!

I don't believe in 3rd party shotty batteries from amazon either. I say make sure they are legitimate products.

But even draining your battery to 5 percent should be avoided as much as possible. Obviously the battery exists to serve you but try to keep it from going too low whenever possible.
