Is there an effective way to kill this? Or perhaps just turn off the annoying notification that pops up when it fails to work? I don't have any serious speed or battery issues, it just seems like this thing is useless and it wastes about 7 or seconds out of every other day or so because it seems like my network connection dies while I am asleep or something.

EDIT: Also, is there a way to make Gmail save all of my old contacts? It only seems to be syncing numbers that I've added since I got the phone to my Gmail account.
