I have been carrying my Droid around in my pocket for the past couple of days, and the back cover keeps coming off. It slides into place, but it seems to slide off very easily. Is anyone else experiencing this, or is it an isolated problem?

    Thanks!

Yup, the exact same thing happens to me, I am thinking of putting a Body Glove or different case, because it gets kinda annoying. :)

I think it's a pretty common issue. I would recommend a case or something like that to prevent that from falling off and to protect it from harm in general.

I do have to say...you must be wearing some pretty tight pants to get the battery cover to come off so much. I never have the issue when I'm wearing khakis or some jeans.

Mine does, however come off in my hand...which is a tad fustrating.

@New2u: Dont get a body glove! It makes pocketing your phone nearly impossible as the material sticks to everything!

The first time it took me a second to get it off, but now if i just put it in my pocket it will fall off. If you push down in the middle yes it will take a little to push it down and get it off, but if you push on both sides of the panel, it will move VERY easily down.

same here CK, mine is a pain to get off. Which is fine because I shouldn't have to take it off for any reason that I can think of. I can only imagine it coming off in my pocket if my pants were pretty tight which isn't how I roll haha

My pants are pretty baggy, and it falls off with ease in there. I guess every droid wasn't built the same.

Thanks for the replies and the info about the Body Glove case. Definitely not tight pants :).

I have only had the problem when taking the phone out of my pocket. This has happened with jeans and with loose shorts.

I will definitely look for a good case for it since I am already addicted to this thing.

I had a Blackberry before this phone, and I bought what they call a soft touch hard case from the Verizon store. It felt rubberized, similar to the back cover on the Droid, and it would not grab when placing it in your pocket. I am hoping Verizon or someone makes one for the Droid.

    Thanks

One of these cases should show up soon. Pretty much any phone that has hard cases will eventually have a rubberized hard case. Verizon also has one that looks like it is covered in leather instead of body glove material.

*FOUND OUT* what the problem was with this, if you slide off the back cover and look at the letters on one side it appears they read "Motorola Engineering". PROBLEM SOLVED! :D

    LMAO

So true! But I have the same issue and my pants are NOT tight. A case should solve this issue. Im personally waiting to see what Seidio comes out with.

Lol, yep i read this problem and didn't notice for the first few hours but now my back has fallen off through general use about 4 times in 2 days (albeit i dont think i've put it dow for much of that 2 days).

This is a design issue and something motorola will need to address with a retrofit for affected handsets. so far my back hasn't been damaged when coming off but only a matter of time.

Motorola has issue a service bulletin and repair kit that is available at all retailers for this issue.

Looks like I'm not the only one...here's my back cover story. Against my better judgement, I bought the case/beltclip that the droid snaps into, with the back exposed. Normally I go for one with a little more enclosure, but the cute girl at the verizon store kept pushing it...fine. Bought the phone on Friday, and by Saturday afternoon when I pulled the phone out of the case I noticed the back had fallen off already. I had spent the day so far outside at work, and finding it proved to be an impossible task. On the way home from work, I stopped by the verizon store where they said they would gladly provide a new one, although they were out of stock, and instructed me to call #611. I got home and gave them a call, only to be informed that if the store had made contact to them to confirm that there was an issue with the phone then they would gladly replace the phone, but could do nothing since the store did not call. I explained quite clearly that there was nothing wrong with the phone itself, and I did not want to go through the trouble of getting a completely new phone, as it only needed a replacement back piece. The agent said that this was not a problem, and then promptly informed me that the cost would be $4.99. After trying to no avail to explain the ridiculousness of charging any amount of money for this piece, when they would even replace the entire phone fell on deaf ears. Only requesting to speak to the supervisor did the trick, and they have agreed to mail one out which should arrive tomorrow or wednesday. Ugh! On the bright side, the battery does not just fall out without the back cover, and I've had it in my pocket since!

    Try this....

Ok, so first night I have the thing, I go out with my friends and a few hours into the night I notice the back is missing!! Freaking out I retraced my steps...turns out it fell off before I even left the house.

Now here's where the idea came from:

So with my Chocolate 2 (I had 9 and used the same method each time) the damn thing kept squeaking because the battery never fit snugly enough into the phone, so everytime I would text, it would sound like a creaky wooden floor. This really pissed me off...SOLUTION? Sticky Tack. or Rubber Gum Art Erasers. Pinched off a few tiny pieces, strategically placed them between the battery and the phone and VOILA! Snug and no squeaks.

DROID battery cover slipping off? Not anymore! Just placed some ever-so-tiny pieces between the battery and the cover and that sombitch doesn't move.

Stuff is like 2 bux at an art store.....and im sure you can find many of other uses for it!!! I know i have!!:icon_ banana:

I was wondering if something there to make it fit tighter might keep it from coming unlatched. The problem with that is.......we shouldnt have to do that :icon_evil:. This is supposed to be a high end phone, the battery cover should not fall off.
