Auto delete old text messages

Is there a way to automatically delete old txt messages? Some phones will do it after say 300 txts or a certain amount of time. I have HandCent, but didnt see any settings in there. I have the native text setting for "Message Limit" set to 50 per conversation, yet, i have 3 people with more than 50 messages in them (56, 101, and 185), maybe that isnt what the setting means? I just dont want to be filling up my phone with a whole bunch of crap.

(I did a few searches and didnt find what I needed.)
