How do I keep apps from starting up on their own. Most of them I only once in a blue moon. I will use task killer on them and 2 minutes later they are up and running again.

This is actually not a bad thing. The Android OS is supposed to work that way, it keeps them open and in memory only not hogging resources. When I get back to my computer ill try and find some links for you to look at.

Some apps are designed to run in the background, no matter what. This is why a task killer app can sometimes end up HURTING battery life. In the background it is constantly closing apps, only to have them open again. And close again. And open again...

I fully realize that apps are supposed to run in the background, and that some individuals think this is a good thing... but many apps horribly abuse data. You can find countless threads of individuals who have been charged incredible bills because they didn't realize just how much data these apps use.

Yes, you can disable data on android phones and only enable it again when you want to use data... but the moment you do, is the moment the apps all try to update themselves, log in, download new info... when ALL you wanted to do was check your bank account, or look at a map.

Something must be done about this, users shouldn't have to uninstall all their apps just to feel safe turning on their data for a few minutes. There NEEDS to be a way to kill apps and KEEP them killed, or at least restrict all apps except the one you're looking at from using data.

This isn't just an irritation, this kills peoples wallets.

If you are using a task killer to close them, you are wasting your time. Get rid of the task killer. Please read through this thread.
