Application Question

I was in the Settings, Applications,Manage Applications screen to delete an Application that I no longer needed and noticed that there were a few applications listed that I don't have an Icon or shortcut to, How would I access these?

IM for example is listed but I see no way to start it.
Ringtone trimmer was another.

By the way this is my first post, Great Forum, lots of really great info here.

Those are not necessarily programs that run by themselves but run alongside other programs. For example, to use the Ringtone Trimmer you must be listening to a song and click "set as ringtone" then select "trim the ringtone."
