Hi all, I have a a question about updating with these roms. I did the update to 2.1 and went through the process of reinstalling all my apps. My question is, why aren't you able to upgrade with these roms the same as the official ota upgrade? they do not wipe your apps when applied. Is formatting the phone necessary when applying these roms, or will a simple overwrite work and retain the apps? Also if and when I choose to roll back to an OEM rom, I haven't seen anything about how to revert back to the original flash recovery bios that came on the phone instead of the new nandroid. Any thoughts appreciated.

Creating an update.zip is a lengthy process for developers who are pushing out updates and bug fixes to the the ROM. Once a COMPLETELY stable and "final" release version is created I would expect to see updates in this form, but not until all the bugs are fixed first. Flashing a recovery image is a much quicker process than creating an update.zip file

guys im trying to understand the backlight issue you all are having. I've found that the cell that detects light (turns off the screen when your ear is up against the phone) turns off the keyboard back light when light is present, and of course the opposite when the environment is dim or dark. As far as the screen itself, i have auto brightness off and dont have a problem. can anyone explain clearly what is wrong? lol

im completely switched to 2.1 with GDE home replacement, and it is the smoothest screen transition Ive noticed lol and there is no problem for me whatsoever with gps/navigation with it. I really havent encountered ANY problems with it that are worth complaining about

Just read through the instructions. Looks a lot more involved than the manual upgrade to 2.01 (which I did). I'll wait for the OTA update on this one. Glad many of you guys are having success though :) .
