I'm looking for an app that will let me access any file on my PC/home network. I see a number of them that let you upload files to a site, then download them on the Droid. But I'm looking for one that can directly access my PCs hard drive that's connected to my wireless network while I'm away (I.e. when I'm working like right now LOL).

PhoneMyPC...you can't transfer the files though but you can do anything that you could do if you were sitting in front of the computer.

You mean on PhoneMyPC??? What that app is, is it remotely connects to your computer and you use your Droid as your computer!! The screen of your Droid becomes your computer screen! But smaller and with multi-touch! It's perfect

PhonemyPC is the best option out there right now. Its still in beta so there are missing features and some bugs, but its a good app for a beta and it will be a great app when its fully released. It works way better then VNC or any of the other ones i've tried. Its very easy to setup and has a lot of options for use, such as taking a screen shot, manipulating processes running on the PC, using the phone as a remote mouse and keyboard. Its cheaper now while in beta too. The price is supposed to go up after the beta period. They devs are really active in the forums and they respond very quickly to question and issues.

PhoneMyPC vote here too. Great app, and developers are both here on the forum and responsive to E-mail.

I had no idea PhoneMyPC was in beta?? I would of never guessed it......that app is like the coolest most neatest thing I could ever whip out and show someone my Droid can do!!! You know what I'm saying? It's super useful and seems high priced for an app, BUT, well worth the money

Yea, $10 in comparison to other apps is a bit more... but well worth it. Plus like I said, you can get any issue you have resolved (or at least an answer to) from the developers.

I use Gmote. But of course you have to download the program for your PC as well for it to actually work. But once you have it, you can play music and movies or view pictures using your phone. It's just like a remote for your computer.

ok, so i can copy, delete, move files? and i can open docs to read info? sorry, you say its just like using my PC, but how does that work? does my PC provide all the hardware, software, etc while the droid is simply a remote access (meaning that it doesnt need the droid RAM to run programs nor does it need my PC programs)? like can i open handbrake, or dreamweaver, or photoshop via my droid? and this all can be done over VZW network? if its just a wifi/blutooth app, then i dont want that. i need something where i can access my computer while im miles away from it? and if i paid for beta, would i get the official release free or at least cheaper?

Count one more vote for PhoneMyPC.

    Oh, wait... that's a biased vote ;-)

    @Big Ry,
PhoneMyPC has several other convenience features, but it's core functionality does three things:
    1) Shows the contents of your PC's monitor(s) on your phone's screen, with pan and zoom to help manage the smaller screen
    2) Lets you control your mouse with your phone's touch screen
    3) Lets you type on the PC with your phone's keyboard(s) (plus a few extra options for buttons that aren't supported on the phone)

Sound is not supported, but we are working on it.

File-management is not available, but it is in the list. Of course, since you can access your PC, you can open any document on your PC and see it on the phone. But, we want to eventually add a remote file manager so you can grab and easily put files to and from your phone.

Oh, and yes, it's still in Beta. Remote login is not done, we have a few errors to resolve (when the network is down or too slow, you'll get a Force Close rather than a polity "Retry" option), and a few other things.

    +1 for phonemypc

And yes, you can even open photoshop.

Being a senior in high school phonemypc offers a lot of comedic relief throughout the day. I just log into a computer in one of the computer labs and when there's a class in there I just open up photoshop and start drawing on it from elsewhere in the building. quite the good time, and my friend in the class was able to draw on the canvas and i was able to see that as well. =]

i dont know about you, but when i was in high school, the "cool" thing on cell phones was multi-colored flashing antennas and "snake" lol

    to the developer:
one last thing. your description kind of made it sound like its simply a wireless mouse/keyboard. can you actually open stuff via the droid, or does it have to be applications/docs/etc that were ALREADY opened on the PC before you hooked up the droid?
