I've been reading more and more that these app killers don't really work and also might even be bad for the Android OS. Truth? Opinions?

I don't bother using anything besides the default one. It works well enough for my uses.

Many threads on this. Android has its own way of task management so its not really necessary to install a 3rd party task killer. However some swear that it helps the phone. If you do install one, do not set it on auto kill and do not constantly kill apps.

I would be one of them. It's fine on manual though, doesn't even show up on battery use. Good to see if anything is wake locking the phone though (YouTube, Google Voice, I'm looking at you).
