I did a little modifying (with help from Pete) and made a version of Smoked Glass that has the colored "Google" logo in the search widget. This version looks better IMO and I thought I'd share it if anyone is interested...

I love the idea, but that looks a little pixelated. I'm not sure if it's just the screenshot or what.

lol whoops, i meant to attach it to the original message. i just tried though and it refuses to work... anyone know i can upload this thing? i tried splitting it into smaller parts and it still wouldn't work.

yup, that's what i'm using right now. i love pete's roms! bugless beast v1 is waaay faster and smoother than ultimate droid. i only wish it had the new launcher...

there's a small white outline because the png i used wasn't perfect, but it'll be so tiny on the droid's screen that you won't even notice it. also, the logo will be in a white box so that'll make it even harder to see.

I have a stupid question, I dl the file and placed in the sd card directory and tried applying update.zip from ClockworkMod Recovery. I reboot and go to place the widget but the original is still there. Do I need to delete the original search widget before applying the update?

CyanogenMod 5.0.6.2. I also noticed the same thing happened when I tried to download the smoked glass pandora widget as well. I had to delete Pandora first before installing the new widget. Maybe its a rom thing or the way I install, don't know.

sorry, i screwed up the other update.zip file. here's a working one:
    update.zip
just apply the update.zip file as usual.

and for those who just want the launcher.apk file, here ya go:
    Launcher.apk
this is a modified apk so you won't be able to install it with the package installer (or at least i couldn't), probably because it hasn't been resigned. i think you'll have to use adb to do it, but i'm not sure exactly how it goes... feel free to post instructions.

I got stuck on the boot screen after applying the update.zip. Does the file only include the smoked glass google search widget?

hmm, i just tried it twice and it worked both times. i even modified it again and the image in the search bar changed just as i expected it to. it's the entire smoked glass theme with only the launcher.apk file modified so the colored "google" logo is displayed. i got the theme form the bugless beast thread, so perhaps it only works with the bb v1 rom...

does launcher.apk exist somehwere other than /system/app. I used NexTheme from the BB V1 OP, replaced the placeholder_google.png image with one of my own, deleted the current launcher.apk located in /system/app and then did an update.zip. It installs successfully, but the widget is the default stock ugly widget. When I use root explorer to go to /system/app/Launcher.apk and view the files, the replaced file is there. So why is the default widget showing?
