that sounds like the remote wipe option.........

wiping the baseband would render the device useless

It would take away the ability to use any mobile networks, but the personal data would still be on the phone, right? So not really a total remote wipe...

You have to re log into the device.....

Without a baseband nothing will work. It wont be able to authenticate anything.

I accidently selected this option rather than update.zip and am trying to determine how screwed I am. Can anyone enlighten me?

Wouldn't you just need to download, re-install, and activate the newest baseband update again?

I've attempted to do so. I keep getting the following:

"E:signature verification failed"

I didn't name it as update.zip.zip accidently, it just isn't working.

Thanks for helping guys.

What recovery are you using? You SHOULD be using Clockwork Recovery.

I'm just gonna use RSDlite and reset everything. If that doesn't help it then nothing will.

I'll post my findings when I'm done for future reference.

I thought I RSD' 2.0.1 once and it didn't seem to touch the baseband.

There are a few update.zip files for the baseband. I'd think you can just boot into recovery and SPR flash a new baseband.

Ok just finished. It didn't help.

Now when the opening screen that says "Welcome to Android" pops up it asks me to activate. After "activation" is complete it jumps back to that "Welcome" screen and repeats the same process.

Under my phone status it states that my phone number is 000-000-0680. Don't know if that has anything to do with it, probably because I am unable to activate.

Will try a baseband update next.
