Anyone else have a background process limit that keeps resetting itself?

I want to set it to 4 max to keep the phone moving quickly (it's been sluggish), but it seems after a short time of use it automatically reverts to 'standard limit'.

    Why is this happening?

Not sure. I'm curious though. I've used it on my earlier Razr MAXX, but haven't had to with the Droid MAXX. I don't even know where to find it on this phone! LOL!

You have to go to settings>Developer options>turn on Developer options>Background process limit> I have never messed with this one. Mine is set to Standard. I have adjusted Window animation, Transition animation scale, and Animator duration scale in the past, but have always returned the setting to default (which is 1x.)
