Any way to manually put it to "sleep"?

Hi all-

I tried a search but maybe I didn't come up with the right terms. I'm trying to find a way, when I'm done using it, to tell the phone to turn off the screen as if it had timed out.

This would save some battery when I compulsively check email every few minutes (because it takes 10 seconds to see if I care about an email). It would also eliminate the "pocket selections" that happen when I pocket the phone. Finally it would allow me to set a longer timeout for reading since I would be able to tell it when I was done and put it to sleep.

Built in or app would be fine. I looked at all the CurveFish apps for turning stuff on and off but none do this, so I'm guessing I'm missing something obvious....

thanks.

the top power button pressed once will turn the screen off. Is that what you're looking for?
