looks like ill need to take my phone in again for a new battery tomorrow, and i just flashed a new 2.1 ese53 rom on my phone. is there anyway i can make it appear as stock without losing my root? i can do a nandroid backup to 2.0.1 with no rom, just root. are the vwz reps told to look for the ninja, or will it reflect in the system info?

    any tips, advice welcome!!

make a nandroid backup of what it is now and backup your apps with titanium back up, there is a nandroid rom that is 2.0.1 no root or busy box, install that, than when you get new battery root, install sprecovery and your old rom.

or just hope they dont see the ninja. i bet they wont notice unless its looks have been extremely modified.

Is there any reason why you have to bring in your phone? Couldn't you just take the battery to the store and swap it?

Im pretty sure they have to go through a few troubleshooting stuffs. Thats what the idiot said last time i went in. Itd sure save me time if theyd just take my word for it, or if you could just bring the battery

You could do a little social trickery on the dude and say something like "We've already been over this. The problem is my battery, we've already trouble shot the issue. Here is the battery. I don't feel like going all the way home and getting the phone. Your product has caused me enough aggrivation as it is. Every hour my phone is down its costing me money." blah blah blah u know the drill. ;) And if they still say no hey, your back to square one, no harm no foul. At least you've bought yourself some time until you figure out how to get it back to stock.

I'd be careful the guy doesn't decide to "help you out" by updating you to 2.1 - that'd be a fun conversation:
"But I don't want the upgrade"...
rep: "Why not? It has this, that and the other thing"
"Because I just don't want it...I want to wait for the bugs to be resolved"
    rep: "There's no bugs"
    "Just leave it alone"

LOL...That would be a interesting 15 minute debate. I'd go with just taking the battery in and crying foul. Tell them your gf has the phone or something and you just stopped by to swap the battery.

What idiot customer service rep at any VZW store even knows what a rooted phone looks like? You'll be lucky to get one of them to give you the correct car charger, let alone determine if you have rooted your phone.

If you're that paranoid, just restore your OEM nandroid backup before you go and go back to the ROM after. If you have no clue how to do this then you must have used DroidMod, and well...that's the reason I don't advocate that particular ROM.

Take out the battery and put it back in the box.

I work for vzw customer service and most, not all, but most store agents are aware of checking firmware and kernal version.
