The only reason the droid has it is because its a rom and the droid has an unlocked bootloader so the kernal can be updates with interferance. Moto should be releasing the update in about a month or so because according to this report http://www.droid-life.com/2011/01/1...ones-the-fastest-htc-tops-manufacturers-list/ verizon usaully updates most of there phone within 58 days of google releasing the code to the manufactors.

I have no idea my friend has the original droid and he tells me that pre 2.0 was a much better time for android.

I can assure you that pre android 2.0 was not a better time for users. I just switched from a Tmobile G1 stuck at 1.6, and 2.2 is light years better that anything 1.x had to offer.

Browsing on my 1.6 device was painful at times, where with my new phone I actually enjoy it. Gmail works better. The phone is much smoother. I can't find a single thing that I like better in 1.6.
