Well I'll be with a couple of tricks from XDA, this is a pretty reasonable and functional tablet.

There are instructions for installing the Google Play Store. A "Hack" that let's you install a 3rd party launcher (Nova), and a set of instructions that should allow me to use widgets on the Nova home screens.

I've installed the Playstore and Nova and really enjoying the experience.

One of the best parts about these "hacks" is if you have an issue you can always do a FDR and no fear of bricking the little beast.

I'll see how well the mods to get Widgets working go. But wow, got a whole lot more for my $$$ thank I thought.

Did you root?

Ive installed GPA and currently working on other Google apps. But would like to remove the Amazon bloat.

Excellent, glad you got it working, I got to say I am more and more pleased with this Tablet. I think I'll get a 10" to leave out for guests and grand children, compared to the cost of a comparable Samsung tab, it's freaking awesome!

For what it is, yeah it's a good deal.

You know what you going to get with a $50 tablet. And as far as performance it definitely struggles. But for what I plan on using it for, an ereader, it will do fine.

debloating this tablet really helped a lot. that location hack helped with apps like weather apps. But it still isn't able to help with youtube.tv.

Oh, cool, let me know how far works out. I got the widget hack working, I'll try the debloat. But the 10" and it's a lot snappier, but kinda big and heavy for the lap. But it's awesome for letting visitors use and my granddaughter loves it for movies. Probably streamed more free Amazon content in the last 2 days, than i have in the last 2 years...

Got YouTube TV to work. I'm thinking it's an off and on thing.

Thinking about doing a step by step video tutorial but I think I would have to start with how to set up ADB and use it.

Dawg, that's excellent . You should do like a 3 part series or something.
Intro, about the tools like ADB, then the play store install, the Launcher hack and debloat!

I need to debloat the 8, it's pretty laggy compared to the 10.

Something to do after work this week.

Watched the entire infinity war movie while on the treadmill. A total of 135 minutes and 1050 calories burned.

But that Amazon tablet performed quite nicely and still had about 70% battery life left despite it being at full brightness.

This is what i wanted out of a tablet.
