Altec Lansing IMW375 bluetooth speakers don't pair together

I bought these two speakers with the intention of pairing them together for stereo sound. As per the instructions, I held down the power button on both of them for three seconds. They powered on and said, "You are now pairing" and their blue LEDs flashed. However, nothing happened after this. If I tried to pair them with either my phone or my tablet, only one speaker would pair (blue LED would stop flashing) and only one would emit sounds.

I've tried this four different times already and they never pair together even though they're supposed to.
