This tool is your all-in-one toolbox for the HTC Thunderbolt.

With it, you can:

  1. S-OFF and Root
  2. Unroot
  3. Install 4ext recovery app to flash it
  4. Boot menu: Reboot, Hot reboot, Reboot recovery, Reboot to fastboot, Reboot to hboot, Power off
  5. Disable HTC OTA Updates
  6. Run an ADB/Fastboot Command Prompt
  7. Install Busybox via an app

Will this erase all user data such as text messages or will I need to back up my info?

Yay!!!! Thanks so much will be rooting shortly!!!

One more question I hope it isn't dumb but if I decide to try different ROMs, will that wipe my user data? Would I need to back up what I can before doing so?

The rom won't, but you will before you flash. You can use titanium backup to backup apps and use the export/import contacts to/from sdcard function to back them up, and you should make a nandroid backup before you flash in case something goes awry.

Thanks so much. I'm coming from a Droid 2 and I was going to root it but I knew I wouldn't keep it and it was under warranty. My thunderbolt is not under warranty so I figured I might as well.

Thanks again!!!!

I need help. I just got around to using your tool. I followed directions and put it in its own folder. I don't see the thunderbolt.bat file. I see a OTA bat file. When I click on it it just says updating and nothing happens. I try deleting everything and starting over but it wouldn't let me remove all the files from my computer. What am I doing wrong?

I know, I'm sorry. The tool is down until Monday or Tuesday because I exceeded dropbox bandwidth limits.
