That just means your friend needs to manage his apps a bit better OR that his network signal is unreliable. If memory serves correctly ATK kills network when the phone is asleep just like JD does.

I've done both. I ran the ATK when I first got the phone thinking that was the right thing to do. after tons of reading, most people recommend not to use one so I uninstalled mine and went from there. honestly, I've seen no change either way with the exception of today. it was on the battery for 15 hours and still showed 84% (didn't use it much at all today) and that's the best I've seen so far. until that changes, I'll go with the premise that the android software will do it's thing. I do run juice defender though (avg setting)

also leave 4g off unless I need it

That alone probably makes more difference than anything else, it did with mine.

I'm not a rezound user so keep that in mind, but when I look at the battery usage I find that there number one thing always draining my battery is the display. Honestly, the best app I've downloaded to help manage my battery is the Brightness widget from CurveFish. Another trick I use is turning off 3G when I'm on Wifi, and vice versa; this has proven to help quite a bit.

But it also depends what you're using your phone for. I've noticed some apps drain your phone quicker than others, whether from poor process management or what I don't know. I have a couple if apps that always drain my phone fast even if they are simple apps.
