8GB Memory?

I have rooted and uninstalled all the VZW branded apps as well as the demo games, AND STILL I only see 2.22GB free.
When I had my DX I always had about 5-6GB free in the internal storage.

Did HTC lie to us? I have about HALF the apps installed on this phone as I did my DX and I can't understand why it's so low. (see screenshot)

Current word over at xda is that the card is formatted in something called sla mode, which cuts storage in half for better speed and reliability. Think RAID on a pc. So there is an 8gb chip in there, but the implementation makes it into a 4gb one...

There aren't two partitions. Raid is a bad example, but closest I can muster. Basically, with sla, each bit occupies twice the space, so you effectively get half the storage, but its not a mirror across two partitions.

It's arguable the 8gb spec is not valid...
