*228 is not needed anymore? I tried it and it said something about the sim card.

I'm told it can no longer hurt anything on these phones. It was a problem with earlier 4G phones.

I haven't heard that it's no longer a problem on newer LTE phones, so that may or may not be true. But the RAZR/MAXX was released when it still definitely was an issue, so it very easily could remain one. Either way, *228 is completely unnecessary (and won't work) because the LTE phones update the PRLs on their own. So even if it doesn't cause a problem, there's still no reason to do it.
