In PE 4.2 I can't do *228 option 2 because the number pad won't show up. I have tried reflashing and it didn't help. Any thoughts?

You can use your slide out keyboard to dial *228

Try downloading a third party dialer. TouchPal has a free one in the market.

Sorry for the confusion... the problem comes when I need to pick option 2 because the special screen that shows after dialing *228 doesn't let me to the dial pad.

Most smartphone now don't let you do that 228 gimmick. The sim card does that when you activate your phone

You could always use *22891 ;) it automatically goes to the activation/programming. No need to enter anymore numbers.
