2 questions (next update and up time)

I am semi new to the world of droids.. I am currently running version 2.2.1 (the current version, I believe) and was wondering if anyone knew when another update would be available, what the name would be, and the update number? There is nothing wrong with my phone but I would like some info on the next update! Are there going to be any visual changes, speed increases, battery life increases, etc.. The second question I have is what is "up time?" I see it in the about phone tab under settings but I could not figure it out. It isn't the tine unplugged or the time on so I was just wondering what that ment.. any info is welcome! Thanks people! You guys are extremely informative!!!

2.2.1 is the current os/ui the next one up everybody is waiting for is Gingerbread. 2.3 the nexus S already has it. Look it up on youtube. The visual icons status bar etc. Are what is on the up and coming update; GB. UP Time is how long your fone has been on. Rebooting and restarted brings it back to 0.
