Did you ever see a 2.1.1 ROM?

I don't see anyway possible somebody can build a ROM for a non existing OS. Word is that the next update will be Gingerbread and that 's going to be 3.0.

Maybe. I've been told by one source that there will be a version of Gingerbread for the Droid 1, the minimum requirements however state that it needs a 1 ghz processor on it.

When they get their hands on that then you will probably see your next ROM. Until then you'll get different versions of their existing ROM's.

I've heard it mentioned quite often I thought...
quote from an app on the market:

This is a demo version and is limited to 1 min.
Redirect media audio output to mono bluetooth headset.
(Froyo or greater only -- 2.2.1 preferred)
    1) Connect bluetooth headset
    2) Run media program (Music, GPS, podcast etc.)

Interesting, the goal is to build the app to the OS. Whatever app they are building to is for a non existing OS. How can that be?

My System Version is 2.2.20 on my D2. So maybe that's what they are referring to. In a D1 you currently have FRG22D as the version number.

Anyway as far as a ROM goes again, I don't see a 2.2.1 happening.

    Thanks abraham3660!!

    FRACTIONING OF THE MARKET=CONFUSION

This is the first time I've gotten tripped up on this crap...Well, I guess it will only get worse..but I would also hate to see google lock everything down like apple...

As more devs reference that there app will work with 2.2.1 without mentioning nexus...expect more tecky noobs to lament: either have a mod or have stock with update fix

For the X there is going to be a fix for the version of FROYO that they have 2.2. But that will just be the version number.

I flashed the last Cyanogen Mod nightly on my Incredible and build version is now showing 2.2.1 so Im assuming it also has the fixes cooked in. Im sure the D1 will also get bumped up if it hasnt already.

Hook, that 1Ghz processor rumor was shot down almost instantly. Now yes, if google does everything they plan on doing to Android, then that might come to pass, but atm there is nothing to back up those claims.

Now if what you're saying is true and that was just a rumor, of course no adjustment would be necessary. You may be right, I don't recall the source of my information so I can't say for certain it's valid.

Either way I do believe Gingerbread will come to the D1.

To get back on topic that 2.2.1 is Cyanogen's build number, not really from the source ROM. The source is still 2.2.

Cyanogen now is built for the N1 first afaik, so what ever is done for it is the standard that is done for the other roms. That's why cyanogen roms have the n1 build.prop and build number.

And 2.2.1 is just the N1 maintenance update, as said earlier.

And hook, I just wanted to point that out. I hear it all the time around here and can't believe people still say it. :)

2.2.1 is the latest open source release, it was pushed out to android on github.com last week.

I've merged the source into my repo and have compiled a ROM off of it and have been running it a day after it was released to open source.

Primarily bugfixes from what I've read. My brother was running my previous compile and was showing 2.2 on his "about phone" "Android version". Mine now shows 2.2.1 based off the source build.

Any ROM compiled from source that has maintained sync will be 2.2.1 as of last week.

Yes, there was a minor update to AOSP. Cyanogen tweeted about it. I'm waiting for cvpcs to merge it into his build. I've not yet seen a detailed list of what the changes are, but as tcrews said it's pretty much bugfixes.

Lol, dropped the news team? :p

I'm glad cvpcs has enjoyed his break, but we suffer b/c of it. I can see myself making a few builds soon though, lol.
