How do you mean? Their wouldn't be any difference in the difference between 2.0.1 with root and 2.0.1 without root? There would be the same differences in both OS versions

well as of now if you were to compare the 2.1 roms out for rooted droids, with the 2.1 that will be coming out, the ota is going to be more stable (probably). But once the 2.1 ota comes out, a version for rooted users will be close behind that. I imagine the cooked 2.1 would be an improvement too (with oc and all the other goodies)

    That's what I meant...

There will be no more differences between rooted 2.1 and unrooted 2.1.........as there is the differences between rooted 2.0.1 and unrooted 2.0.1

I mean everyone knows 2.1 will be better than 2.0.1 of course.......but all I'm saying is, one has access to ALL the restricted files, and the other doesn't

yes, but will it be like every other piece of hardware and will moto try to block root users?

nobody could say whether 2.1 will be rootable or not until it actually comes out. And I would say verizon would probably try to prevent it more than motorola (as moto doesn't stand to lose anything by it being rooted, it would probably help to sell the phone more actually)

    as far as differences
    ota should be super stable

    root brings:
    overclocking
ROMs with features from other devices
    live wallpapers
    the ability to customize appearance
    wifi tether
complete access to the details of YOUR phone

and in all honesty, most 2.1 ROMs right now are VERY stable anyways

I personally use the alldroid community ROM. I've been so happy with it lately, I've had no reason to try others. I've heard good things about chevys simply stunning 2.1 and greek has always made great 2.1s. A new guy burst onto the scene with a modded cyanogen 2.1, his name is koush but uses his own recovery image which makes me leary, but PLENTY of people have run it with good results... they all have new fixes and updates all the time. I bet they end up with a 2.1 that's much better than the ota and perfectly stable before the ota even drops
