Sometimes apps come back, sometimes they don't. If they don't or only some do, you can go to the market, hit menu, downloads and it should list everything you had so you can easily redownload them. Was your phone rooted/custom firmwared?

I'd say it was probably an app that did it, or a combination of apps. Be careful of what you download, we've seen issues with apps that aren't compatible with 2.0 or higher messing up peoples phones (muting call audio, sending garbled e-mails, sporadic restarts, bottom buttons not responding, keyboard not functioning, etc). Look into rooting your phone so you can do something called a nandroid backup. It basically backs up the whole phone to your memory card, so in your situation, you could do a restore and it would be like nothing ever happened.
If you are interested in rooting, there are a ton of threads and posts on this forum that will walk you through every step of the way.

Which is what I had said yesterday in my original post that I spoke with a rep that not only owned a Droid but he was a scholar on the subject and completely up to date on every single thing that had been happening. I have no idea if he was BSing me but he seemed like he was trying to be as honest as he could be, he estimated it would be another couple weeks and he said the release was planned to be the same as previously announced. I also said "who knows!"

Yeah the only thing with that is he isnt really involved in updates being a tech so it would be very difficult for him to get the info. He could be telling the truth and he could be full of sh*t. We will just have to wait and see what happens.

Look, I'm a Flextronics technician and device specialist in a VZW retail store. If you don't know Flextronics, we're the technicians with the white name tags. What I posted the other day was a direct email from the new york metro area director of verizon. As of now, the only other information we got was that it was delayed, with no reason. So any tech who says they know what's going on is full of sh*t. My estimation is this week, only because they didn't give us a reason nor a new expected release date, so I assume that the issue is just with deployment and will be resolved ASAP. But for us to have flyers, a corporate email, etc. about the update, it has already went through all testings and is ready to go.
As for anyone in Verizon just trying to make money off of you, that's only sales reps. They're the only ones that have commission pay and I do agree that some will say things just to make a buck, even though it can come back to bite them in the ass. But since that has been affecting return rates of phones, they've introduced the device specialists as a guide for both reps and customers for knowledge and to lower returns. And the upcoming return policies should help too I guess, ugh.
So when you go to a VZW store, always ask to talk to a DS first because its our jobs to make sure we know every phone in and out.
Personally, I think everyone should jump to Bugless Beast with helix launcher 2 and metamorph and forget about the official update. :)

Verizon needs to get rid of these stupid techs. All they do is look for the moisture sticker and say that's what's wrong with it. Ha ha get rid of them !!!!!!!!!!

Maybe a smidge off-topic, but since I have tired of VZW's "issues" with distribution, I am planning to go root and UD v8 - when I do the wipe(is this just resetting the phone to stock per the 2.0.1 phone settings, or is there some other 'data wipe' I have to do?), and all other steps followed - will there be ANY issues with accessing the app market or utilizing the apps therein?

The reason we check for moisture damage first is due to the fact that liquid and electric current don't mix well. So if you had moisture damage, as per the indicator turning red or pink, it's a strong possibility that it screwed your phone up. I don't think anyone should be fired for using common sense.
And my job entails much more than looking at stickers all day. I teach 30 minute appointments all day to people who purchase smartphones. Imagine sitting down with your grandma and explaining what apps, task killers, and widgets are. As for the "stupid techs" remark, I own a computer repair business, have a college degree in network management, and currently have 4 certifications in computers and networking so it's not like they look for high school dropouts.

Does everyone know who, or does anyone care about who owns Bitphone, the provider chosen by Verison to 'push' out the update? Why, it is good old HP.

It was mentioned in a post a few miles back. I just wonder what Bitfone's problem could have been, that they could do the 2.0.1 update, but not this one... Despite the fact that there were fewer Droids in December than there are now, is irrelevant. They knew they were going to have to handle the 2.1 update when it was due to go out, and they knew the Droid market had been growing, one would think that there would have been someone over there that knew they had to make sure they had the capacity to push out the update when they got the go ahead...

When you are a vendor responsible for the distribution of someone else's stuff, it makes good business sense to make sure you have the capacity either online and running, or available to tap into if the volume of the job you are doing increases from one run, to the next... It makes good business sense. Unless it was a case of Moto asking "Can you handle this? There are X number of users out there which is X times more Droids out there than what we had with the last update. Will your system handle the increased load?" and someone from Bitfone say "Yeah, sure, no problem" and not being certain that it could be done, and not inquiring himself if it the capacity was there, and if the system could handle it, and when time came for execution, they realized too late that they didn't have the capacity.....

Just some random food for thought.

It's amazing that people complain about reading all this nonsense. Isn't that just a statement that you don't have control over yourself? That you don't have the ability to avoid something you don't want to read?

Why can't those that are not interested in reading over a thousand posts simply not read them? Is that all that difficult? Those that don't want to read these posts why not show yourself that you have the ability to make the decision to stay away.... you can do it! I have confidence in you!

Obviously there are many people that enjoy reading and posting about the excitement and dissapointment of this update. Why not allow others to also have the same choice that you have?

i think we should close this and make a new rule no 2.1 coming soon threads any longer. its ridiculous almost 1500 replies (2 times now) for live wallpapers, and better battery life etc.. we should make a rule only make a 2.1 thread if you got it officially and you need to have proof. just my opinion. cause its more annoying to here people talk all day about something that may or not be released soon, then to here about how people rooted there phones and don't care.

People complaining about not wanting to be here is just as annoying as those that milk cows all day long.

As CK said on page 146 this thread isn't going anywhere. Continue the discussion.

There's nothing like a fresh glass of "milk". The question then becomes which flavor of milk do people prefer. Some people like milk that is "bugless", and some like "ultimate" milk. There are even those that like some strange new flavor of milk called cyanogen.

I go not know whether to laugh that you just interchanged the word milk for root, or that you are still trying to convince people on a thread to root when we have a hacking section.
