from my experience, you are correct .. i've owned the thunderbolt, samsung charge and the bionic ... they ALL did the same thing .. lost the data...

the email app on the mytouch 3g slide has pinch to zoom, which i loved......i didn't even use the gmail app just because it was soooo much easier...
i turned off the slide and don't use the pattern either so there is no slide to unlock when i get a call....only the 'answer, ignore' screen.
