      i greatly appreciate your message
      i'll give this a try
the droid is, of course, a phone.....
but, its gps capabilities intrigue me... though the current lack of them does not make me like the phone any less
VERIZON, on the other hand, is not making me happy
i appreciate the info about YOUR experience

      have a wonderful night

Hello Greg, Today my GPS went out (only 2nd time). While sitting around my home screwing around with the Droid my GPS fired right up and locked very quickly. I had went into settings/locations & security and unchecked "use wireless networks" for my location. I clicked use gps satellites & then launched maps. My droid located me very quickly. I went back in at re checked "use wireless networks" it all seems to be working right now. I don't know if this actually did anything -but it did start working after an hour or so not working. Maybe the cell tower gps is fighting with the satellite tuner? who knows
      -Good luck
      Steve
I am just a regular verizon customer in NJ. So I don't know if any of the alltel stuff applies
