Yeah I went back and forth between a Droid X and Thunderbolt a few times last year, when I could have upgraded again.... It is a real pita, hard to justify given I'd have to get another SIM card.

Just to be clear, you could purchase a 4G Jet pack/MBB plus SIM card, and keep unlimited, it doesn't have to be a 3G, 2200 MiFi. You have to buy it out right, or use cutomer provided equipment, and not upgrade. Also, most smartphone users actually use 1/2 a GB a month, not 2. Heavy users are rare, and recommened to use wifi when available. The, "most people use 2GB, or less" thing was a marketing ploy to get ppl used to the idea of switching. Also, share everything is not a rip everbody off plan. Most ppl SAVE money when they switch. I saw a family save $180 a month by switching. If it won't save you money most in store sales associates will tell you NOT to switch. Also, just to be clear VZW sales associates (direct/indirect) do NOT make commission if you switch plans, or buy a device. Commission is ONLY made if you agree to a new 2 year agreement.

Back in the good old days when I had a couple of New SIM cards laying around lol.

Indeed the new plans save people money, well they save *families* money...you must not use your phone for anything "smart" such as apps or GPS navigation if you stay under 2GB/month.

I have a great setup between my thunderbolt and LG USB modem, but if I decide to go full on modem, I'm paying for minutes I can't use.
