WOW! Not sure what to think...new Root/UD 2.5 user

Yesterday I rooted my Motorola Droid and installed Ultimate Droid 2.5. I am overwhelmed will all the options and I'm not really sure where to go from here. So far I've installed Barnacle WiFi Tether (Awesome), SetCPU (Awesome, but the more I think about it the more confused I get). I *think battery life is better than before I did all this, but I haven't completely put everything back yet...so where do I go from here? Been trying the ChevyNo1 kernel's, but using Rom Manager I cannot seem to get one to work (boot looping), then I have to restore to my backup. Is the ChevyNo1 really that impressive? Been trying the LV1Ghz for starters...would that theoretically increase battery life? And suggestions are appreciated...I'm over my head! In a good way, of course I also get a little confused about some of the "UD settings" such as the App themed settings and stuff. Also, can I remove Torch.apk? I tried to rm it, but even with root I couldn't...

Try the Slayher kernals, it's what i've been using for awhile and have had no problems. I'd recommend either 1100 or 1200.

UD is the best ROM available, in my opinion. Nice choice in starting here. Lots of options. You won't be disappointed.

All phones are different so you just need to find the kernel that works best with yours. For myself, I've never had any luck, unfortunately, with Chevy, but have been able to run any others up to 1.1. Anything over that and my phone won't come up. So have fun!

Tried to manually flash the ChevyNo1 kernel, ULV 1.25Ghz, so far so good! no fc's or anything, going to just have to put it through normal use and see what's up. Otherwise, I am very glad this ROM (UD 2.5) was suggested to me, because it is very well put together!

It is almost considered unorthodox to NOT root your Droid phone...just doesn't make sense for someone to want to have something that is locked in every single direction. I'm glad that you have decided to embark on the rooting adventure...some advice from me, stay tuned to this forum and specifically...this sub-forum for Black droid.

No Problem. Been running the 1200 for a few days now and haven't had any problems with it either.

Might I suggest wireless tether for root users. It can be found in the market and in my opinion is way easier and more reliable than the other tethering options. Just my .02 tho
