Question Help - Want to update, need help Un-Rooting

    Folks,

I rooted my Bolt several months back when the OTA1 came out, and have been very pleased with the overall reliability.

Now the 2.3 update is out, and when I tried to install it (having read somewhere this morning that it would) it hung and I had to restore my rooted image.

How can I un-root, so I can install the update that came out last night?

Will I lose all my apps and data and have to reinstall?

    Bewildered....

I'm in the exact same boat - can any of the experts out there help (I personally used the Revolution tool to root without data loss)?

    Thanks!

I was under the impression that revolutionary also had an unroot option. As for the thread starter, there is an unroot thread on the xda developers site that requires that you download two files and flash each in the correct order.

That's where I'm stuck currently...I found a similar post at thunderboltforms.com. I've finished the first step and am attempting to return my TBolt to a "stock S-On device". The file's on the SD card, I boot into HBoot, go into Recovery, install from the right zip-file, and it aborts the install.

I've rebooted and the phone is working, but I suspect I've done something bad to it. At this point, I've got a replacement coming from VZ in a few days (the GPS lock on this one and battery life have been horrible, even by pathetic TBolt standards), so I think I'll just start from scratch with the warranty replacement and if they raise any eyeballs at VZ, I'll tell them if they charge me, I'll cancel the account.

That said, the tinkerer in me would sure like to figure it out tonight...anyone reading this have any suggestions?

I am actually having second thoughts about the new Gingerbread update given the voice message bug that is being reported and am back to running my rooted version of Froyo for the time being.....

However, Many Thanks for Posting This Excellant Guide to Un-Rooting the T-Bolt!

I would stick with your rooted phone, from what I hear, the update is garbage.
