You can always try running a program like pandora recovery on you sd card it might find them. Its worked for me in the past.

is thunderbolt tegra 2 based, if so you can find an app undelete for root user from the android market, you need to root your phone to use this app, also it can recover files from sd card but can do nothing with internal storage. if you haven't root your thunderbolt or have images stored on internal storage, you will need to use pc software to do the job, there's a tutorial about how to recover deleted photos from htc thunderbolt, you may want to check it out.
