can you unlock the verizon droid and switch to a different carrier?
That is all i am trying to find out at this point. Can I buy a verizon droid and pay to have it unlocked or flashed or whatever you call it and use it with a different carrier? I want to buy 2 phones and have them unlocked for a different carrier...............

I think even if you could, who would you go with? No one else uses CDMA which is hardwired into the phone.

Sprint uses CDMA.
And I sort of doubt you can unlock the phone at this time... You could try and get the Droid Milestone and unlock that one with better success as it is a GSM based version.

Because it is the only other provider that is using CDMA if you are trying to unlock a Motorola Droid.
If he had a Motorola Milestone (The European version of the Droid), which is GSM based, he could get it unlocked and use it with T-Mobile or AT&T, once he gets their SIM card. And this also presumes he still doesn't want Verizon.
