My droid has also called somebody in the middle of the night, put itself on speakerphone and made a call by itself at 3:30 am.
My buddy also has a droid and it called is ex at 4am as well.
Could it be a malicious app doing this? Everyone with the issue should list out their apps and see what matches.
I don't have any crazy apps:
NY Times
Google Sky Map
Google Voice
Twidroid
Weather.com
Pandora
DC Metro (for train times)
That's it!!! Anyone else??
I haven't seen mine try to make any calls on its own yet, but now that we're on to the suspected Droid invasion, I'll be more vigilant....
I know the phone can do its own thing: I've got Pintail installed which responds automagically to a text message from another phone which gives a request for "locate" followed by a pin number that you've chosen with the Droids best estimate for its location (which could be a precise GPS location or an approximate location determined from cell signal). If it can do that, I don't see why it can't do the next step and make a phone call. But that would seem to be a bit too much automation. Were there any incoming text messages or other traffic that might be related to the calls?
Jim.

Awesome! I'm going to pretend to go to sleep tonight and watch my Droid... It won't know I'm onto it's antics though.

Loving my Motorola Droid!
Yes, this happened to one of my employees, too. It would randomly call people at 4am. He has no idea what is causing it. Anyone?
I'm happy to hear I am not the only one! I know it does seem crazy, but it really did happen and there are some people who are not happy with me because of it.
Trying to explain to people that your new phone called them during the night all by itself, just ends up making you look worse then just apologizing! At least they will just think your an ass, instead of a straight up loon.
Anyways, I have downloaded and deleted a bunch of apps, so it would be hard for me to track all apps, but some of the ones I have on my Droid are:
Advance Task Killer
Dope Wars <- Suspicious!
The Weather Channel
Mobile Buzz
Solitare
Flashlight
Astrid
Hit it lite
Madagascar
MixZing
ShopSavvy
Ultra Notes
The only one that sounds kind of shady is Dope Wars, and I did just download it last night before the invasion....![]()
