Facebook is a native app. You can't delete it unless you root your phone. And if you did delete it, you wouldn't be able to get OS upgrades. So not a good idea.
If you just want to get it off your screen, long press, drag down to app drawer. When the app drawer tab turns red, drop it.

Thanks Kent. The latter is what I really want (since it's a dup), but I can't seem to drag it off either!
What happens when you long press on the icon? It should get a little bigger and you should feel a little vibration. From there you should be able to drag it. If that isn't happening for you I'm not sure what the problem is. Reboot and or battery pull maybe?

Long press results in.... Haha! It worked that time! Thanks Kent.
