Couple of things.

No, I did not check with WinZip or similar. I figured since the download aborted with a bad file, that the file was probably corrupt.

Download with wi-fi enabled, and over 3g. Should have mentioned that.

I've had a ROM download go haywire with a bad .zip before, but just once (and very infrequently) the second time it would go fine. This is the first multiple failure I've experienced. SO I figured if the wifi was not right or the 3g wasa funky, then a dl over the computer and a transfewr to the sd card should fix it.

Here's a problem i experience with all ROM's in general, and im not sure what is causing it. 1st few days after wipe/install a new ROM everything is super fast. After about a week or so things seem to slow down drastically. Even playing Homerun 3D the game is so choppy. What would be some reasons for this happening? Is it something im doing during install? Im just about to install 1.3 and i want to make sure im doing everything right. I'm wondering if Titanium is screwing me up, even though i NEVER restore data period. If i have a game i'm playing i will just restore data on that.

I know the jury is still out on whether or not they are needed, but I encounter the same problems from ROMs...even the stock VZW.
I'm not thoroughly impressed with Android's internal memory management. At least in my experience, it doesn't kill programs quick enough to allow for more things to run that need the free'd up memory. Again, thats my personal view/experience.
Rebooting never really works for me either as so many things load on startup that, even though they may be idle, and not using any actual memory at the time, it still takes time (lag) to free up the memory needed.

Yes im using Advanced Task Killer from the market. Maybe its the amount of tasks i have on my ignore list. I was also using cache cleaner from the market to help out, but since purchasing advanced task killer its kinda useless.

I downloaded the naked ROM on my computer and installed on the phone from the SD card. That worked fine. That was a 60+ something MB download. I tried installing the Red Rum theme from ROM manager. Still no go, aborted installation...bad zip file.

So back to the OP and download the Red Rum theme. That one says it 33 something MB. The download time is estimated...an hour and a half! What gives here? The full ROM downloaded in 15 minutes or less.

I hope the result is worth the aggravation .

If you get a phone call or text while downloading you will have to start over again. Even though the download resumes after your call or text has come in the file will fail to download correctly. You will have to go to the download folder and delete the file, and start a new download. If you are downloading that slow you are more than likely not in 3G.

The slow download waas over trhe wireless broadband (Verizon MiFi) I use in the house for the desktop, not the phone. My reason for being perplexed is that connection (as I said) downloaded the ROM which is twice the size of the theme in less than 15 minutes. It just did not seem logical that it would tell me it was going to take an hour and a half to download the much smaller theme?

Anyway I used the theme download in bgill55's 2nd post and it downloaded in 5 min.

I am getting the same thing. I just downloaded Clean Black in 45 seconds, but it is showing another 28 minutes before Red Rum Red theme is done. I have also downloaded Black Ice in less than a minute. I am doing this from my computer, so I am assuming that the server is being hit pretty hard.

To those wondering about taskkillers and such. One thing you can do is to install the program called autokiller (if you're rooted). What it does is adjust the built in memory manager/taskkiller that android has in the OS. You can choose how much memory the OS tries to keep available for various types of programs. I keep mine set to the aggressive preset and it seems to help with those types of problems mentioned above.

Got redrum 1.3 running and just did the Black Ice theme. I like it a lot, however I can't find a nice wallpaper (not LWP) for it. Any recommendations for a background that will look good with this theme? I thought black or grey would work but it really doesn't. Also, is there a way to theme the SetCPU widget to a Black Ice theme?
