Do the majority of peeps use a swap partition or compcache that run steel Droid? I've never run it, I use to run chevyno1 SS then switched to winner00s cm7 build for the frequent updates about a year ago or so. Once I sbf to stock then flash this, I think I'm gonna run this as is after loading apps back up via TiBu and see how things run. Does everyone run the kernel that it comes with? Getting anxious to firing up this bad boy.

I have never used swap, I never really saw how it be worth it. GB has always ran fine without it. Especially this ROM

Awesome. Yea for me gingerbread in general won't really run well for me. Eventually running as is without either my system would become extremely laggy. Then I used compcache for awhile but it got laggy eventually as well. Then I partitioned my SD card with a 64mb swap partition that I ran with swapper2, and a 512mb ext3 partition That I used to run with link2sd. Eventually just swapper2 and that's what I've been running ever since. I guess my OG is one of those that needs extra work in order to get GB to run smoothly in general? I've yet to find the answer and I've had this phone since November 2009. Its seen and tried it all let me tell you...except for steel Droid 10!! ;-)

I use compcache (18%), and no swap on sdcard. I think I'm going to turn off compcache and see how it goes.

    Kernel - I use chevyno1 1GHZ LV kernel. (250mhz/800mhz setting in settings).

Yea both never really worked well for me. I noticed the swap partition ended up working better for my particular OG than compcache did. I've also been prime's deprimed kernel for about 6-8 months I'd say. It's worked well. What really irritated me was I could never figure out how to change the IO scheduler or whatever it is from cfq to noop or deadline I think it was. Whatever script I would run it didn't matter, [cfq] was always enabled.
Wow a 256 MB swap partition haahha that's funny. I just made a new bigger one and upgraded from 32MB to 64MB haha. How long does it take for that to fill up like 3 weeks??

basically never lol and i have a nice, simple easy script that should change the i/o scheduler...

first line tells you whats available and what you currently have in [ ], then put whichever one you want in the " " after echo, and the last line will confirm the change
    Code:
    cat /sys/block/*/queue/scheduler
    for i in /sys/block/*/queue/scheduler
    do
    echo "deadline" > $i
    done
    cat /sys/block/*/queue/scheduler
