I see my tablet specifies Polymer Lithium. Is this any better than a Lithium Ion battery of the same capacity?

They are essentially the same, but the polymer batteries are light and have higher power density. Lithium Polymer batteries are "ion" based systems. The full name is Lithium Ion Polymer.
There are Lithium Ion batteries that are not of the Polymer variety, and there are both rechargeable and disposable versions.
