Hotmail contacts only sync one way

Probably a stupid question. I have set up a corporate account to sync my hotmail email and contacts on my phone. All my contacts show up perfectly, however, it only syncs one way. If I update my hotmail contacts in hotmail it will sync and show up on my phone. However, if I update a contact on my phone it doesn't sync back to my hotmail account. Thus:

edit in hotmail on web --> syncs / updates on my Droid Charge
edit on my phone --> doesn't sync / update in hotmail

thoughts? I was under the impression that I could update and sync both ways
