Searching contacts

Lets say I make a call to Smith, after searching my contacts. I put "smi" in the search box.
The next time I need to search contacts, the letters "smi" are still there, making it necessary for me to tap the rectangle to open up a search box, delete "smi", then search.
Does anyone know if there is a way to make it so my last search is not kept on the box? ie clear the box after each search.

That is indeed interesting. I have not had that happen to me. The worst I have had is that my search results still show up when I go to search again. I left it alone for a little bit and the results cleared on their own. Are you rooted or still stock??? If you are rooted I would say to try to clear the cache and see if that does not help.
