Notification light

I know that on the Motorola droid they have a blinking green light that shows up when you have a new message and i was wondering if i could set that up on my droid charge

No, but if you get NoLED app, it will work on your screen instead. Designed to work when screen is off, missed call, email, messages, etc will have a icon (that is adjustable) on screen

I use a little program called "Voicemail Notifier"
It puts a small red icon in the top notification bar when I have a new voicemail. I looked at noled, but the battery life issue was a killer.

That sounds like noled (though I never tried it). Aren't you saying that it gives you a light that you can look at even though the screen was off when the call happened and you also weren't there during the time of the call?

No, that's not what I'm saying. It does not give you a light, there's a notification icon in the top bar on the phone, the one where it says how many bars you have, etc. Normally the icon is blue, but when I have a voicemail a red icon is added.
Very easy to see, I like it.

I did try noled for a bit, but didn't like it at all.

The phone already gives you a voicemail alert icon in the status bar. Is this not redundant? The OP is looking for a notification while the screen is off.
